The requirement for sustainable drainage (SUDS) may be driven by a personal environmental choice, financial, planning condition or building regulation constraint.

Current guidance and forthcoming legislation will encourage a greater uptake of sustainable urban drainage (SUDS) systems as attempts are made to minimise the occurrences of flooding and to reduce water wastage.
