Stage 1+2 IllustrationTreatment Stages 1 & 2 SEL Permachannel®

The SEL Permachannel® is aesthetically similar to a traditional drainage channel. However, unlike traditional drainage channels, each individual 1m long SEL Permachannel® unit is a self contained water treatment system. This in effect, provides a series of many small silt/oil separators across a development at source and eliminates the need for an end of line oil separator as defined in PPG3. Each SEL Permachannel® deals effectively with a small runoff catchment area (micro-catchment), typically 30m2. There is no lateral flow between adjacent units therefore water is effectively stilled at source. This prevents emulsification and solids in suspension at the earliest opportunity. In order to achieve such efficient treatment outfall points are at 1m intervals and are integral to each unit.

Key Features

  • Typically 30m2 micro-catchments
  • Prescribed micro-catchment with proportional effluent and silt loading
  • Gravity separation of oils and silts at source
  • 2 phases of water treatment – hydrocarbons and solids in suspension
  • Stilling of flows for controlled silt deposition and emulsification prevention
  • Trapped effluents and normal spillages are naturally bio-degraded by aerobic digestion
  • Catastrophic spillages are intercepted and contained for safe extraction and controlled disposal
  • Simple access and maintenance
  • Standard D400 loading, slotted or heel-proof ductile iron grating
  • Rapid non-specialist installation
